Mbappe ruled out of huge clash as Deschamps makes shock selection

France have been handed a major blow ahead of their UEFA EURO 2020 clash with the Netherlands, with Kylian Mbappe ruled out due to a calf injury.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward picked up the knock in training on Monday and will now miss the crucial Group C clash in Budapest, Hungary.

Mbappe's absence is a huge blow to France, who are already without Karim Benzema due to injury. It is also a major boost for the Netherlands, who will be looking to build on their impressive win over Ukraine in their opening match.

Didier Deschamps has made a number of changes to his team for the match. Hugo Lloris captains the side, while Presnel Kimpembe and Raphael Varane start in central defense. Paul Pogba and N'Golo Kante are the holding midfielders, with Antoine Griezmann and Ousmane Dembele playing in attacking midfield roles.

The Netherlands, meanwhile, are unchanged from the team that beat Ukraine. Jasper Cillessen starts in goal, with Matthijs de Ligt and Virgil van Dijk in central defense. Donny van de Beek and Frenkie de Jong are the central midfielders, with Memphis Depay leading the line.

The match is set to kick off at 9pm CEST (8pm BST) and will be shown live on ITV in the UK and beIN SPORTS in the US.
